Sedimentary Contrast
Contributed by Andrew Annex
I really liked the contrast seen in this image between a planar sedimentary rock that exhibits some flavor of post-depositional deformation or alteration that formed the vein visible on the surface and the darker rock that is above it. The darker rock could be a similar sedimentary rock that has a coating on the surface changing it’s appearance, or it could have a different composition entirely from the underlying surface.
