Brad Garczynski is a student collaborator on the Mastcam-Z team and a PhD student at Purdue University. His research aims to constrain the origin of lake deposits in Jezero crater, their potential to preserve signs of life, and to develop methods for detecting potential biosignatures with Mars 2020 instruments. His work combines field observations of analog sites on Earth, laboratory work, and orbital analysis of Jezero crater, and he is interested in using mineralogy from Mastcam-Z multispectral data to investigate the geologic evolution and past habitability of Jezero crater.
