Lars Olt
Lars Olt is a computer science undergraduate at Western Washington University, a researcher for Western’s Mars Lab, and a student collaborator on Mastcam-Z. His research aims to develop an automated region of interest classifier for data from the Mars 2020 instrument. Lars has interned at JPL twice, developing software for two different teams. During his first summer of college, Lars worked on a tool for the 382i cryogenics group for loading and visualizing thermal heat transfer cases. During his second summer, he worked with the 322 planetary science division on software for the UCIS-Moon imaging spectrometer. Lars’s interest lies in finding solutions to optimization challenges and developing novel algorithms.
