Max Gabbert

Western Washington University

Max graduated from Western Washington University with a B.S. Geology in 2022. Since then, he has worked as a researcher in the Western Mars Lab under Dr. Melissa Rice. While also working as part of the Science Support Team and Multispectral Working Group for Mastcam-Z, Max also conducts laboratory research focused on exploring the photometric behavior of rocks that are terrestrial analogs for those found in Jezero crater in order to help understand Mastcam-Z data. Loving the outdoors, Max has done field work across five states, including at the volcanoes of Hawaii. Outside of work, Max enjoys hiking, biking, and climbing. He can often be found reading science fiction and dreaming of visiting space.
