Nicole Schmitz

Nicole Schmitz is a Co-I on Mastcam-Z and the Co-Principal Investigator on the ExoMars rover camera PanCam.  She is a planetary scientist and instrument engineer in the German Aerospace Center (DLR)’s Institute of Planetary Research in Berlin. She is involved in many current and future missions to Mars, to the Moon, into the Jupiter system, and to asteroid Ryugu. Currently she is a Co-I on ExoMars 2022, the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer JUICE, the asteroid sample return mission Hayabusa-2, and the Russion/European Luna-27 mission.  Nicole loves to go into the field and has spent many field seasons at Mars-analogue field sites such as Antarctica, Svalbard, and the Faroe Islands.
